Issue: | Knowing the bedrock topography is a key component in creating and modeling surfaces of the geological units and will also facilitate the creation of a derivative map focusing solely on bedrock. In order to create this derivative bedrock map, the topography of the bedrock within the numerous river valleys in south central Indiana would need to be resolved. There has been some Tromino work performed in the past in the counties mentioned, though not extensive, and more work will be necessary. |
Objective: | The objective of this project would be to have Tromino data point coverage along transects that cross river valleys as well as locations that have minimal or questionable bedrock surface data. |
Approach: | Transects along river valleys and within areas of little or questionable resolution will be conducted. |
Products: | A more complete and accurate database of Tromino data and control points from which geologic and derivative bedrock maps can be created. |
Benefits: | The benefit would be that derivative bedrock maps could be easily and accurately produced in addition to geologic maps for the StateMap program. |
