The value for Processing Level indicates the progress that has been made entering data in the PDMS for a particular Well Record. Processing Level is a data field shown on the Well Header (Location Table).
Without knowing the record's Processing Level, it would be unlikely that a user could know whether a table without data is empty because no data exist, or because existing data has not yet been entered.
Each Processing Level contains the cumulative data entered from the previous Levels plus the additional data included for the level in question.
The recognized Processing Levels are:
New refers to the Well Record for a new well for which no completion records have been processed by the IGS. The source of entered data is limited to the Well Permit and Surveyors Plat:
All of the Well Header data fields have entered in the PDMS to the extent possible using the Well Permit, the Surveyors Plat, and Field-Check elevation.
All of the Event Header data have been entered have been entered except Completion Date, Total Depth, TD Formation.
All data for the PreDrill Subtable has been entered.
Completion indicates that the PDMS Well Record has been brought up-to-date to reflect the completion status of the well, based on records received for a drilled well.
All of the existing Well Header data related to the well have been entered in the Location Table of the PDMS.
All of the existing Event Header data have been entered Well Event Tables for the well.
All available pertinent data has been entered in the Completion Intervals Subtable.
All available pertinent data has been entered in the Completion Rates Subtable.
Logs and Picks indicates that the PDMS Well Record has been brought up-to-date to reflect levels A. and B. above, based on records received for a drilled well. Additionally, the following data have been entered if possible for the following tables (or if not entered, no data are available to enter):
All of the data for the Log Info Subtable have been entered for all Well Events. Scanned images of Geophysical and Physical Logs may or may not have been hyperlinked to the PDMS.
All of the main stratigraphic picks (formation tops) have been entered as Strat Picks in the Strat Picks Subtable. However, the associated Pick Form may or may not have been entirely entered for the well. The Pick Form may or may not have been completed, and if it has been completed, it may or may not have been scanned.
The Deviation Subtable, if appropriate for the Well Record, has been entered.
Full means that all of the data for levels A., B. and C. above have been entered, subject to the conditions described. Additionally, all of the remaining Well Data Tables for that well have been populated.
Although our objective is for every well record in the PDMS to be entered and reviewed as completely as possible, "Full" is a term used by the IGS to help track the processing of well records. It does not indicate that every record for every well has been totally entered. The completeness of each data type or variable in the PDMS is discussed in its associated Help topic. Additionally, these completeness-related Help items are collectively presented in a single Help topic: Completeness and Reliability of PDMS Records.
