Permit Elevation is a data field in the PreDrill Subtable.
Permit Elevation is the ground elevation as reported on the well permit. This elevation normally originates from a professional surveyor who has prepared a land plat showing the well's proposed location and the ground elevation determined at a site that was staked in the field.
Because of the importance of accurately knowing a well's ground elevation and location, the Indiana Geological Survey independently verifies this information in the field as part of its Petroleum Well Field-Checking Program (a PDMS report on this program is in preparation). When a correction is deemed necessary, it is recorded in the Field Check Subtable. However, no change is made to the reported Permit Elevation in the PreDrill Subtable.
