Search by Well Type

Well Type is not a PDMS data field; rather, the term refers to wells that match specified well completion criteria following a PDMS search for certain commonly sought wells of interest.

Sorting the Well Types within the PDMS is accomplished using each well's Symbol Code.

Some drilled wells have been dually completed or worked over and completed as different Well Types, and search results involving these wells may vary depending on the search criteria.

The Well Types recognized for the purpose of searches in the Well Record Tables are listed below, along with a description of how the search functions and which values are retrieved:

Oil Search returns every well that has been completed for oil production at any time in the well's history.
Gas Search returns every well that has been completed for gas production at any time in the well's history.
Gas Storage Search returns every well that has been completed for gas storage or gas storage at any time in the well's history.
Service Search returns every well that has been completed as a service well at any time in the well's history.
Strat Test Search returns every well that has been completed for the specific purpose of obtaining geological information.
Dry Search returns wells that have been completed as dry holes, but have not been completed for any other purpose during the well's history.
Unknown Search returns every well for which the completion status of the well is unknown.

An in-depth discussion of searching by Well Type and how the Well Types are related to Well Symbol Codes may be found in the PDF file Understanding Well Type Search Results. This document has not been written yet.
