IGS internal classification for statistical reporting purposes.
Caution. Data have not been systematically entered in the PDMS for wells completed prior to 2001. The following table describes the values for Well Class used in the PDMS.
IGS Well Class is still entered in the PDMS (2011), but it is no longer used as to create reports by the IGS. Today, this type of information can be queried directly from the PDMS tables. Since we enter IGS Well Class data while other data are being entered for the PostDrill Subtable, it takes very little time to continue adding the IGS Well Class data until we are absolutely sure it will no longer be useful.
Any well completed as a gas or oil producer EXCEPT those completed in reservoirs currently undergoing enhanced recovery (waterflood) operations or those used for gas storage.
Any completed well involved in an enhanced recovery (waterflood) operation. In this context, enhanced recovery wells include both producing wells and injection wells.
Any completed well involved in a gas storage project -- includes wells used for injection and withdrawal of natural gas and any associated observation wells.
Wells not completed as petroleum, enhanced recovery, or gas storage wells.
