INTRODUCTION: This report summarizes an investigation of the geology and potential reservoir characteristics of the Pennsylvanian rocks underlying the Landfill and Sludge Application Sites at the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) (herein referred to as "Crane") located just east of Crane, Indiana. The intent of this study was to analyze bedrock facies relationships immediately beneath the two areas-of-concern to determine the potential constituent migration pathways and barriers within the shallow bedrock aquifer system. This was done in association with an on-going site assessment and remediation program conducted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
