ANNOTATION: Open-File Study 00-10 is a series of 7.5-minute (1:24,000 scale) U.S. Geological Survey topographic maps for southwestern Indiana that show the locations of underground coal mines, mine entrances, documented subsidence areas, and thickness of unconsolidated material near mined areas. These maps are the most complete and current data set available for locating underground coal mines and predicting areas at risk for mine subsidence.

Eaton, N. K., Weber, L. A. 2000, 7.5 minute quadrangle map showing locations of underground coal mines and other features of subsidence: Indiana Geological Survey Open-File Study 00-10

Notes: Publications in the Indiana Geological Survey Open-File series have been inconsistently named using a variety of series titles including "Open-File Report," "Open-File Map," and "Open-File Study." Prior to 1994, a publication in this series was generally referred to as an "Open-File Report" (but not always). To help reduce confusion created by these inconsistencies, the IGS now refers to every publication in the Open-File series as an "Open-File Study." To be entirely correct in writing a bibliographic reference for a publication, one should use the series name and number that appears on the publication itself.

Call for available quadrangles. This Open-File Study is in progress and maps are generated upon request. Depending on the completion status of the requested map, production time may vary. OFS 00-10 maps should be requested by specifying the U.S. Geological Survey topographic map name. OFS 00-10 maps are full color, large-format maps. Dimensions: 25" x 29"
