The theme of the 2012 IGS calendar is “Celebrating 175 Years.” We’ve kicked off our 175th anniversary as a geological survey by highlighting a few of the intricate maps, drawings, and engravings that were published in old survey annual reports from the 1800s. The calendar, designed by one of our staff geologists, Licia Weber, an accomplished graphic artist, represents not only the passage of time, but also how far the Indiana Geological Survey has come in providing reliable, unbiased data for the intelligent, responsible, and sustainable development of the state’s geological, mineral, energy, and water resources.
