Biography
Will is the Digital Collections Manager for Indiana Geological and Water Survey (IGWS). His role supports policies and infrastructure for effective data handling and information flow for data and digital collections in accordance with the survey’s mission. As a core responsibility, he is the product owner of IGWS’s digital asset management (DAM) system, and provides technical administration of the system as well as training, standards creation, and description.
Will joined the survey with a professional background centered on digital technology in the archival and cultural heritage fields. In 2016, he earned an MSLS from the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill, focusing on archives, 3D imaging, and digital humanities. He also holds a B.A. degree from UNC with a major in History.
In previous professional roles, Will had a key role in establishing a digital preservation consortium for Indiana cultural heritage institutions as well as creating and editing digital asset metadata. A major professional objective of his is to employ digital technology to ensure and augment for posterity the enduring value of cultural and geo-science artifacts and collections.
