Issue: The general public lacks an understanding of the geologic conditions and extraordinary impact of Indiana Limestone (Salem Limestone).
Objective: This project seeks to educate the public about the geologic history of Indiana Limestone and its uses, through educational activities, photograph galleries, guided quarry tours, guided campus walking tours, and media interviews.
Approach: The IGWS will provide a guided quarry tour, photograph gallery, public presentation, and/or guided campus walking tours to Limestone Month participants.
Products: Presentation and tours
Benefits: This project will provide IGWS with visibility in Monroe and Lawrence Counties, and showcase the important resources available in the Stone Belt. It will strengthen ties between local museum organizations and enable continued accessibility of the Indiana Limestone Photograph Collection.
